The extra year before college for CJ O’Hara has started to pay dividends. The 6’5” wing guard who is now attending Combine Academy in North Carolina after finishing up his high school career at Park Center High School in Minnesota has continued to his recruitment build.
This week, O’Hara picked up an offer from Canisius University of Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference. This comes while he is currently averaging 22.5 points, 5 rebounds, and 3 assists per game during his post graduate year to be earning the division one offer and interest from a number of other programs. Bryant, Central Connecticut, Jacksonville State, North Alabama, Utah Valley, and Western Carolina are among the schools recruiting him currently. He says that among the group, North Alabama and Utah Valley are recruiting him the hardest.
For visits this fall, he took one to Western Carolina in late September. “It was nice,” O’Hara said about his visit. “The coaches are very cool. Gym was nice and the campus was spacious enough for me.”
Once O’Hara finds the right place for him, he is looking to make his commitment. “I plan to commit as soon as possible if the fit is right and I like the school,” he said regarding a commitment timeline. As well to have a strong build which is ready for the next level, O’Hara has plenty to offer programs at the next level. He is a standout defensively in addition to being a tough attacking guard on the other end with a good ability to play through contact.
