MVP’s, standouts, and now stock boosters. Here are several underclassmen to know for the upcoming high school season that all impressed with some great play at the recent NY2LA Futures Camp.
Tyson Busch – 2027 – G – 24Up
Over the course of his games as well as the drills, Busch proved to be one of the top shooters of the camp. He has a great looking jumper and when he is spotting up from the outside as well as off the dribble, he was hitting his shots at an extremely high percentage. Even with defenders all over him after hitting a few shots, Busch continued to knock them down.
Amare Hereford – 2026 – PG – Team Herro
With his play throughout the camp, Hereford was one of the top point guards at the event. He is a highly skilled playmaker with a great array of point guard tools playing very well in both transition as well as the half-court game. With his quickness and tight handle, he proved to be so difficult so stick with to keep getting into the paint and creating for himself and teammates.
James Johnson – 2026 – F – MidPro Academy
The sophomore has continued to show more and more throughout the year and impressed again with his play here. He is a highly versatile 6’4” forward with a strong build that was impacting the games in numerous ways. He was using his strength effectively to play around the paint and defend tallet players but also showed a growing ability to play out on the perimeter offensively. He was very effective making plays off the dribble going strong to the basket finishing at a high rate but also made some good passes.
Eli Krueger – 2027 – F
Krueger was one of the better big men of the camp who played a prominent role on both ends of the floor. He stands at 6’6” and has a solid build to go with it. Even with his good size just starting high school, he still moves well on the floor. As well, he battled hard inside all event to be so impactful and scored and rebounded the ball very well. A high upside player with all the tools he showed.
Taahir Muhammad – 2026 – G – Montgomery Fire
With his impactful and energetic play, the sophomore was given the Mr. Hustle award for the camp. Much more than just a high energy player, Muhammad was also one of the top shooters of the entire camp. He showed off a pure jumper, especially spotting up from the perimeter knocking down his shots a very high percentage hitting everything. As well he showed good ability making plays off the dribble.
Will Sweeney – 2026 – PG – Wisconsin Playground Club
An extremely high energy guard that was making plenty of plays throughout the camp. Especially on the defensive end he was playing with great energy shutting down opposing guards getting all over the ball forcing plenty of turnovers. Offensively, he moves well with the ball in his hands and did bulk of his scoring going to the basket.
