The NY2LA Junior Showcase last week featured many of the top 2024 players from around the state of Wisconsin and beyond. Here is part one of the some of my top performers from the camp.
Bennett Basich – 2024 – G – Phenom University
Right from the start of the event, Basich was playing with some extra confidence in his game. While I’ve seen some good performances from him over the past couple of years, he was playing on another level at the Junior Showcase. Not only was he one of the top scorers of the entire showcase averaging over 20 points a game but also contributing in all areas. He was extremely active on the glass averaging 7.7 boards and on the defensive end in addition to looking to create for his teammates. Throughout the event, the 6’3” guard did a tremendous job creating his own shot from both the mid-range and three. A true playmaker that is always a threat with the ball in his hands.
Jamarion Batemon – 2025 – G – Power 5
One of just a few sophomores at the showcase and Batemon proved he more than belonged. He scored it extremely well throughout the entire camp with 21 points a game. Not only did he shoot it at a high percentage from the outside going 15-28 from three but also got all the way to rim effectively with his burst of quickness. He had his biggest moment at the end of the camp hitting a game winning three in the final seconds of overtime.
Brady Corso – 2024 – G – Wisconsin Blizzard
Corso was one of the top scorers of the entire camp. He averaged 22.7 points per game, second best of the showcase. The combo guard continues to show he is one of the more elite shooters in the entire region. He has a great stroke from the outside with deep range and was shooting it well off the dribble and catch. Not only did he knock down a staggering 18 three pointers in just the three games but did so while shooting 64.3% from beyond the arc. More than just a shooter however, Corso also showcased a very good passing ability to go along with his court awareness.
Tim Franks – 2024 – SG – Chapman Basketball Academy
In all three of his games, Franks scoring display was on full display leading the entire event in scoring at 24.3 points per game. A tremendous shot maker, Franks was hitting jumpers from all over the floor. He scored the ball well from all three levels creating shots for himself from both the mid-range and beyond the arc. The two guard has great range with a smooth jumper but also uses his solid build to get to his spots and then use his height to hit tough jumpers right over defenders.
Kon Knueppel – 2024 – G – Phenom University
Knueppel had a tremendous performance at the camp to not only earn himself the floor general award but co-mvp honors. Normally he plays off the ball but excelled running the point throughout the event. In each game the 6’6” guard showed tremendous combination of vision, IQ, and passing ability with the ball in his hands to have a staggering 10.7 assists per game and lead his team to a perfect 3-0 record. His shot making ability was also evident all camp as he averaged 20 points per game while shooting 68% from the field. It is easy to see why Knueppel holds several high major offers.
Sekou Konneh – 2024 – F – Team Haliburton
With his play during the camp, he earned himself co-mvp honors for the camp. In each game, he matched himself up against the opposing team’s best offensive player, regardless of their position. He has plenty of tools with his great length, stands at 6’8”, and athleticism, to be able to defend nearly anyone on the floor at a high level. He scored the ball effectively going to the basket in addition to knocking down some jumpers to score 20 points per game in addition to 7.7 rebounds and 3.7 assists. Konneh continues to take great strides with his games and is one of the highest upside players in the entire Midwest.
