One of the top point guards in the Midwest is off the board as Nasir Whitlock has committed to Lehigh University. The 6’2” senior of DeLaSalle High School in Minneapolis and Gain Elite Minnesota announced his collegiate plans over the weekend.

The commitment comes after Whitlock was initially offered a scholarship by Lehigh back in May. He had also received an offer from Wisconsin-Milwaukee in addition to having interest from a number of programs including Appalachian State, DePaul, Harvard, Princeton, South Dakota, and others.

“I like Lehigh’s style of play and their coaching staff. I like that the coaching staff has put some real time into how they see me playing there. I also like that it is a good academic school,” Whitlock said about his future college.

Over the past two years, Whitlock has been one of the top point guards on the NY2LA Association. This year he earned himself all-association second team honors at the 17U level. The high IQ guard has continued to show his playmaking abilities. A very steady presence with the ball who has not only a great ability to create for himself but also other. Whitlock is a high percentage shot maker off the dribble that excels in the mid-range in addition to his advanced passing ability. He has plenty of tools to make an impact in the Patriot League from day one.
