2024 6’1 Jack Stanton – Breakaway Basketball 16U
Jack Stanton put together two big time performances on Sunday for Breakaway, scoring 25 points in a Final 4 win over WI Swing and following up with 31 points and 6 threes in a comeback win over Power 5 in the 16U championship game. Stanton is an elite shooter off the catch and does a good job of moving without the ball and reading his screens to get open. He also showed a nice midrange pull up game off the dribble, getting great elevation to rise up over the defense. Stanton kept Breakaway in the game when they were down double digits early in the championship and hit some huge shots down the stretch to help them get the win.
2024 6’8 Sekou Konneh – Team Haliburton 17U
Sekou Konneh is a 6’8 athletic forward with a nice perimeter skillset and has the tools to be a high major wing. He has a smooth jumper with range out to the three point line, plays above the rim finishing dunks and protecting the basket defensively, and has improved his handle. Konneh is a fluid at his size and was able to attack the paint off the dribble, and showed a nice midrange game able to pull up and knock down shots over defenders with his size. He has an offer from UW-Milwaukee but would expect his recruitment to expand to the national level in the near future.
2023 6’1 Seth Bunders – Wisconsin Blizzard 17U
Seth Bunders was electric on Sunday for Wisconsin Blizzard. First in a Final 4 matchup with WI Swing, Bunders scored 21 of his 23 point in the second half, including a tough game-tying three with 10 seconds remaining, and the game winning steal and layup on the final possession to give Blizzard the win. In the 17U championship game Blizzard trailed by 15 points in the first half when Bunders took over the game. He got to the rim and had some impressive lays in traffic, made 4 threes, and had some nice assists on his way to a 30 point performance. Blizzard fell by 4 points to Team Haliburton but Bunders had the gym buzzing with his play.
2025 6’2 Jamarion Batemon – Power 5 15U
Jamarion Batemon is one of the top young guards in Wisconsin and had the best shooting performance of the weekend on Sunday in the 15U Championship game, making 10 threes and finishing with 42 points in Power 5’s win over Team Herro. Batemon has good shot prep and mechanics, with a clean release and great rotation on his shot. He lit it up from deep and once he was hot his teammates were making sure to find him for open looks. Batemon also has a nice floater game with soft touch at the rim, can initiate offense as the primary ball handler and made some good reads in both the Final 4 and Championship games. He is a young prospect to keep a close eye on over the next 2 years.
2023 6’3 Braden McGlothlin – MTXE Premier 17U
Braden McGlothlin is a player who’s impact on the game doesn’t always show up in the box score, but he makes a ton of winning plays. He is constantly talking on the floor, plays with a competitive edge and always seems to make the right play. McGlothlin is a knock down shooter with range, impressed as a defensive rebounder from the guard position and made some really nice kick ahead passes on the break, always playing with his eyes up and seeing the floor. He isn’t the most athletic prospect but really competes defensively and I love his basketball IQ. McGlothlin is getting D2 interests and will be a steal for a college program at that level.
2024 6’5 Amari McCottry – Power 5 16U
Amari McCottry is one of the highest upside players in Wisconsin’s 2024 class and his talent was on full display on Sunday. McCottry scored 23 points in the first half and finished with 28 in the 16U championship vs Breakaway, scoring with a variety of moves off the dribble. He has a tight handle at 6’5 and can break defenders down and get to the rim where he uses his length to finish in traffic. McCottry has a smooth jumper with great arch and rotation and can get defenders off balance and knock down shots off the dribble in the midrange and using jabs out of triple threat.
2023 6’1 Tyran Cook – Team Haliburton 17U
Tyran Cook had a big Sunday for Team Haliburton on their run to the 17U championship at Summer Jam. Cook is an explosive athlete at 6’1 and rose up to put down some emphatic dunks attacking the rim. He has solid mechanics on his jumper and made some catch and shoot threes and a couple midrange pullups off the dribble. Cook has a strong build for a player with his quickness and was also able to effect the game defensively with his ball pressure.
