The annual Generation Next Invitational played host to over 100 teams from multiple states earlier this month and a number of prospects really stood out during the weekend. We continue our coverage with a look at some of the top performers in the 7th grade division…
Stevie Hall – 2027- Combo Guard – The Family – I watched Hall play in Louisville a few weeks back and was impressed. After watching this weekend I am even more impressed. Hall was a do it all guy for The Family. He ran point guard getting others involved, he rebounded the ball and played with tempo in the open court. He hit big shots all weekend leading them to a 3-1 weekend.
Fami Yusuf – 2027- Dual Forward – Martin Brothers – The lengthy 6’2” wing is an incredibly versatile player with a great scoring ability. He has great moves off the dribble attacking and could not be stopped from to his spots. His length caused issues on the defensive end of the floor. A huge piece of the Martin Brothers team that won the 13U platinum championship, winning by an average of 23 points per game.
Caden Crudup – Traditional Guard – Meanstreets – Crudup can really shoot the ball from deep. He runs the floor to get to his spots and is ready to release once he receives the pass. He has a very quick release. Once he started hitting shots, he used shot fakes to get defenders in the air and drive pass them. Highlight of the weekend was a 16-point performance in a tough quarterfinal win.
Timmy West – Combo Guard – NESYB – West is tremendous athlete and has all the tools and physicality to play well at the high school level. He defends at a high level, can knock down shots from deep but his best ability may be attacking the basket and finishing with contact. Had a huge game in an intense victory over Meanstreets Select White.
Trey Resch – 2027- Hybrid Guard – CBA Elite – Resch continues to have a very solid spring season. Resch plays well on the attack aggressively going to the basket. He has a sweet stroke from range. Scored 16 in both of the games I watched and rebounded the ball well from his guard position.
Jayden Burrell - 2027- Combo Guard – MKE Ballaz Elite – Burrell plays so hard, its difficult to not watch him play. He’s aggressive offensively, plays with some edge and can guard bigger players on defense. His shot has improved over the last year and now is a threat to hit that 3, which opens up driving lanes for him to attack.
Darren Grandon – 2027- Small Forward – Martin Brothers – A highly active 6’2” forward with a versatile game. He plays well with the ball in his hands but can also spot up for threes. A good finisher around the paint who also is a good passer. Grandon played a big role for the Martin Brothers team that won the platinum championship.
