Between Saturday and Sunday there were countless great games at the 12U level. With all the talent and energy in the games, it made for a very exciting weekend of hoops amongst these teams. Here are the players that impressed the most at the Generation Next Invitational.
Brock Brown – G – Mid Pro Academy
Not only did Brown show a very good scoring ability but he can distribute it just as well. He is a long guard with a good all-around game. A smart player with the ball in his hands that really looks to create for his teammates and can dish it out there but also shoots it well from the outside with a smooth jumper.
Jarvis Brown – PG – 24Up
An incredibly quick and shifty point guard with good skills. He proved to be very tough to defend off the dribble with all his tools and handle continuously getting into the paint to score and distribute. Already at his age Brown showed off good vision and decision making on the attack. Not only a driver, Brown can also knock down shots from deep off the catch and dribble.
Logan Collins – PG – HKBT
Collins had one of the more impressive performances in his game on Sunday. He is such a skilled playmaker that is very difficult to defend off the dribble with his quickness and moves. He maneuvers so well with the ball to get to the basket and finish well there but can also knock down shots from three.
Caleb Gillian – G – Chapman Basketball
The guard showed a very good all-around scoring ability over the weekend. A skilled and efficient scorer that is a knockdown shooter spotting up from the outside but also played well with the ball attacking the basket. Gillian is a smart decision maker with the ball that knows what to do with it.
Kellan Larkin – G – Ray Allen Select
Larkin had himself a tremendous tournament and was a big reason his team advanced all the way to the title game. He is a good two-way guard that knows how to play. A playmaking guard with good moves off the dribble that was often getting into the defense creating. He scored it very well going to the basket finishing everything. As well, Larkin is a tough perimeter defender that sticks with the ball and can disrupt opposing offenses.
Cash Meyers – F – Bombers Elite
Meyers had one of the top games of the tournament scoring an outstanding 23 points in the title game to help his team win the platinum championship in addition to impressive throughout the weekend. He has a good combination of size and skill and was very active on both ends of the floor. Even with his size he has good moves going to the basket as well as shooting it off the dribble in the mid-range. Meyers was also big on the glass, scoring it very well on the put backs.
Will Minessale – G – Milwaukee Trail Blazers
Minessale had multiple impressive games during the tournament. He’s a skilled and versatile guard that plays hard at all times. He shoots the ball very well from the outside but is also a good playmaker with his handle and good passing ability. Throughout the tournament he was all over the court making plenty of plays on both ends for his team.
Kyler Payne – C – Illinois Flight
One of the more dominant big men at the 12U division. He has good size and strength plus has an aggressive style of play. Even with his size he still moves well on the floor. A very tough interior scorer who was finishing everything around the basket right through contact and showed a good ability posting up. Payne was also a force rebounding on both ends.
Jason Susdorf – G – Team GRIII
One of the top shooters and scorers at the 12U level of the tournament. With his smooth jumper Susdorf is already a great shot maker at a young age. Both off the catch and dribble he was knocking down threes and mid-range jumpers at a high percentage to put up points in bunches.
