A deep and talented 17U group led to an exciting weekend of hoops at the Wisconsin Spring Showdown. Here are some additional intriguing players to the top performers and stock boosters.
Chevalier Emery Jr. – 2022 – PG – WI Phenoms
A talented lead guard who can score off the bounce, Emery had some solid moments throughout the weekend. He attacks the rim well, can finish at all three levels, and he’s shown a nice perimeter stroke as well. He like the rest on here was consistent in terms of his performances on the weekend.
Kenneth Garth – 2022 – G – World Hoops Elite
Garth has great versatility to contribute in so many ways for his team in a big way. With his length and quickness, he has a very good ability to defend the ball on the perimeter. He scores the ball effectively attacking, getting to the basket plus he pulls up well in the mid-range in addition to being a skilled distributor.
Jalen Keago – 2021 – G – WI Phenom
Keago is a versatile scorer that was beating the defense in a number of ways with his 6’6” size plus all his abilities. The wing guard was able to put up points going to the basket on drives and cuts, spotting up from three, and even posting up. He is a stat stuffer that was doing a lot for his team throughout the tournament.
Andrew Keller – 2022 – F – WI Swing
The lengthy 6’6” forward has a strong build and contributed in a number of ways over the tournament. Keller played well running the point for his team, is a tough rebounder that outworks the opposition, defends the paint well, plus is a good passer.
Peyton Mrotek – 2022 – G – WI Blizzard
Mrotek is a strong guard that is a quality glue guy that was doing a bit of everything for his team. He contributed in a big way with his ability to defend multiple positions well plus create some turnovers, a good distributor that can read the floor and has a very good passing ability, rebounds the ball well for a guard, and more. He added some buckets attacking the basket and hit some perimeter jumpers.
Ben Olson – 2022 – G/F – Wisconsin Swing
A long wiry talent who can fill the box score, Olson had a quality opening night performance filled with a number of jumpers that showed he could stretch the floor and put the ball in the basket. He has nice feel and instincts and his ability to impact the game is impressive at times.
Jackson Paveletzke – 2022 – G – Phenom University
I could’ve put him in a top performers or stock boosters category as well as once again he was a model of efficiency and excellence. He makes sound decisions, can score in bunches, has a textbook perimeter stroke, and is a quality floor leader. Consistent week in and week out, Paveletzke had a strong performance on both ends once again.
Josh Terrian – 2022 – G/F – JH1 Elite
The strong and energetic 6’4” wing continued his impressive spring season in Pleasant Prairie. Terrian has a smooth stroke to be a knockdown shooter from beyond the arc but can also take it strong to the basket through contact and finish. He plays with good intensity on the defensive end to lock up his man.
