Talented players continue to come off the board this fall with each passing week and the last couple weeks have been no exception. Florida State and Duke were active on the trail landing highly regarded Scottie Barnes and Jaemyn Brakefield respectively. Here’s a look at that and more in today’s news and notes…
D1 COMMITMENTS
2020 PF Scottie Barnes of Montverde Academy (FL) verbally pledged to Leonard Hamilton and the Florida State Seminoles earlier this week.
2020 F Jaemyn Brakefield of Huntington Prep (WV) offered up a verbal commitment to Duke earlier this month.
2020 SF Andre Jackson of Albany Academy (NY) popped for Connecticut earlier this month.
Kansas struck on the trail in the junior college ranks by securing a verbal commitment from Indiana Hills Community College (IA) standout SF Tyon Grant-Foster.
North Carolina struck on the trail earlier this month as 2020 PG Caleb Love of Christian Brothers College (MO) verbally pledged to Roy Williams and UNC.
Florida struck on the trail earlier this month as 2020 SF Samson Ruzhentsev of Hamilton Heights Christian Academy (FL) decided on the Gators. They didn’t stop there as Florida then headed up to Roselle Catholic (NJ) where they secured a verbal pledge from 2020 SG Niels Lane.
Minnesota has been active as well first with a commitment from 2020 PF Martice Mitchell of Bloom (IL) and then the Gophers landed a verbal pledge from Brewster (NH) standout 2020 G Jamal Mashburn Jr., son of former NBA star Jamal Mashburn.
Butler grabbed a commitment from Michigan as 2020 F Scooby Johnson of Benton Harbor (MI) gave them a verbal commitment. The Bulldogs weren’t done there as they traveled to Texas to grab a verbal pledge from 2020 F Jakobe Coles of Guyer (TX) as well.
TCU struck on the trail on California securing a verbal commitment from 2020 PF Terren Frank of Sierra Canyon (CA).
New Mexico struck on the trail earlier this month by securing a verbal commitment from 2020 F/C Bayron Matos of Hamilton Heights Christian Academy (TN).
La Lumiere (IN) standout 2020 PG Wendell Green Jr. gave a verbal pledge to Eastern Kentucky earlier this month. (CLICK HERE TO READ HIS COMMENTS).
Stanford stuck on the trail again as 2020 SG Noah Taitz of Bishop Gorman (NV) verbally pledged to the Cardinal earlier this month.
Michigan State jumped into the mix this month as well securing a verbal commitment from 2020 PG AJ Hoggard of Huntington Prep (WV). The domino effect to that commitment was that 2020 PG Jalen Terry of Beecher (MI) de-committed from the Spartans this week and he’s now back on the board as one of the premier lead guards in the country still in play.
Speaking of de-commitments, 2020 G Davonte Davis of Jacksonville (AR) opened his recruitment up earlier this month after previously verbally pledging to Oklahoma State and the talented guard closed it back up shortly thereafter with a verbal commitment to Arkansas.
Kansas State landed one of their top priorities as 2020 C Davion Bradford of Mehlville (MO) gave the Wildcats a verbal commitment late last week.
Iowa State struck on the trail as well earlier this month with a verbal commitment from 2020 SF Dudley Blackwell of Somerset Academy (FL).
2020 F Isaiah Johnson of Bishop Montgomery (CA) came off the board with a verbal commitment to Oregon State over the weekend.
Northwestern landed a verbal pledge from 2020 G Ty Berry of Sunrise Christian Academy (KS).
Mississippi State struck on the trail in Georgia as 2020 G Deivon Smith of Grayson (GA) gave the Bulldogs a verbal commitment last week.
Pittsburgh landed a target of theirs earlier this week as 2020 C Max Amadasun of Our Savious Lutheran School (NY) gave a verbal pledge to the Panthers.
UC-Riverside was active as well landing a commitment from 2020 PG Jalin Anderson of Compass Prep (AZ)
Head Coach Pat Baldwin continued to put together a solid fall as UW-Milwaukee secured a verbal pledge from 2020 PG Kaleim Taylor of Milwaukee Academy of Science (WI). Earlier in the month Coach Baldwin landed a commitment from 2020 G Donovan Newby of Bloom (IL).
The N.C. State Wolfpack secured a verbal pledge from 2020 C Ebenezer Dowuona of The Heritage School (GA).
Radford jumped in the mix as well securing a verbal commitment from 2020 G Keishon Porter of Southwest Edgecombe (SC).
Lipscomb also struck on the trail with a commitment from 2020 G Tommy Murr of Lindsay Lane Christian (AL).
Penn State was active as well as the Nittany Lions secured a verbal commitment from 2020 G DJ Gordon of First Love Christian Academy (PA).
Pepperdine Head Coach Lorenzo Romar struck on the trail as well in Washington securing a verbal pledge from 2020 PF Kendall Munson of Puyallup (WA).
South Alabama traveled to Tennessee where 2020 PG Andrew Anderson of Tipton-Rosemark Academy (TN) verbally committed.
Cal-State Fullerton struck on the trail as well getting a verbal pledge from 2020 G Dante Maddox of Bloom (IL).
SIU-Edwardsville landed a top priority for them earlier this month as 2020 G Ray’Sean Taylor of Collinsville (IL) gave a verbal pledge to SIUE.
The new staff at Southern Illinois continued to make their presence felt as they secured a verbal commitment from 2020 G Dalton Banks of Eau Claire North (WI) earlier this month.
UMKC landed a top priority for them as 2020 PF Caden Boster of Eau Claire Memorial (WI) gave them a verbal pledge earlier this month.
Abilene Christian struck on the trail as well this month securing a verbal pledge from 2020 G Logan McLaughlin of Hebron (TX). (CLICK HERE TO READ HIS COMMENTS).
OTHER COMMITMENTS
Winona State is putting together an excellent fall landing verbal commitments from 2020 PG Declan Dillon and 2020 SG Connor Dillon of Peoria Notre Dame (IL). They also struck on the trail in Wisconsin securing a verbal pledge from 2020 SF Malik Abdul-Wahid of Brookfield Central (WI).
Lewis struck on the trail as well securing a verbal commitment from 2020 G Beau Frericks of Cary-Grove High School (IL) earlier this month.
2020 PF Micah Johnson of Ankeny Centennial (IA) verbally committed to Missouri S&T.

2021 PG Tyrese Hunter of Racine St. Catherines (WI) is not only one of the most explosive guards in the country, he’s also seeing his recruiting stock take off substantially this fall after a stellar travel season. The NY2LA Sports Futures Camp will return on October 26, 2019 and it’s open to 2021-2023 boys prospects. For the past decade the NY2LA Sports Futures Camp has been one of the premiere fall platforms in the country both regionally and nationally. The NY2LA Sports Generation Next Tip-Off for boys 5th-8th grade teams will tip November 16-17, 2019 in Wisconsin. Annually one of the top late fall early winter middle school tournaments, it is once again expected to have some of the top teams in the Midwest competing at this time.
