The annual NY2LA Basketball Association saw a number of quality 2020 prospects perform at a high level this past spring and summer but they also saw some solid performances from underclassmen in the 2021 and 2022 classes. We continue our coverage of the annual high school platform with a look at the Underclassmen of the year, Anton Brookshire of Kickapoo HS in Missouri and Brandin Podziemski of St. Johns NW Miliary Academy in Missouri.
Anton Brookshire – 2021 – PG – Kickapoo (MO) – Yanders Law Blue 2021
Brookshire was sensational in both the spring and summer sessions. A silky smooth 6-2 plus length guard, Brookshire makes the game look easy at times with his ability to score at multiple levels, create with dominance, and simply manage the tempo and flow of most games. He can carry a team on his back when needed and he wants to take the big shot and embraces the moment. His ability to knock down the perimeter stroke, score off the bounce, or simply create space at the mid-level area to score and create is special. He was dominant at the 16U level in the spring and the 17U level in July for Yanders Law and he’s really starting his ascent nationally and schools are taking notice. A top 50 caliber guard nationally in the 2021 class, Brookshire is one to watch very closely moving forward.
He currently holds offers from Missouri State, Bradley, UNLV, Tennessee State, Texas State, and UW-Milwaukee. He’s also collecting interest from Creighton, Iowa, Missouri, Kansas State, Iowa State, Butler, etc. He plays with the Yanders Law program during the grassroots travel season.
Brandin Podziemski – 2021 – SG – St. Johns NWMA (WI) – Wisconsin RAP
A sharpshooting left handed guard with toughness and skill, Podziemski developed throughout the spring and in July he was exceptional as he scored at multiple levels, showed an ability to take over games, and he delivered big shots on one of the best teams in the NY2LA Association.
Equipped with size, length, and all the intangibles that help teams win both in the box score and outside the box score, Podziemski is another legitimate Division 1 caliber prospect who’s really just scratching the surface right now. He’s another of the talented rising juniors that participated in the 2019 NY2LA Basketball Association this past spring and summer and he’s only getting better.
He’s generating early interest from Michigan, UW-Milwaukee, Valparaiso, etc. amongst others.
