Mequon, WI – Day 3 of the 2019 NY2LA Sports Summer Jam continued to showcase talent across all divisions. Here are some of the standout performers of the day.
6’10 2021 Patrick Baldwin Jr – Phenom University 17U EYBL
Patrick Baldwin Jr is as good of a prospect as you will see in the country and showed off his full skill set in a couple of games for Phenom U on Saturday. Baldwin is essentially un-guardable in the mid-post with his ability to shoot over defenders and has great footwork to get his shot off. He also showed he is a capable playmaker off the dribble, handling the primary ball handling role at times and making some impressive passes attacking the paint.
6’3 2020 Max Klesmit – WI Blizzard 17U NY2LA
Max Klesmit is a big time player for WI Blizzard and D1 schools are starting to take notice. He is a knock down shooter from outside and can get to the rim with his handle and finish at the basket. Klesmit competed defensively and on the glass doing all he could to try to will his team to a win finishing with 14 pts in their tough loss to IL Wolves.
6’9 2021 Mike Foster – Phenom University 17U EYBL
Mike Foster continued his impressive weekend playing alongside Baldwin for Phenom U finishing at the rim, blocking shots and playing great defense. At 6’9 he can grab defensive rebounds and push the break off the dribble and creates matchup problems for opposing teams with his combination of size and skill. Foster finished with double digit points and rebounds in both of Phenom’s wins Saturday.
6’8 2021 Scottie Ebube – Illinois Wolves 16U UAA
A big bodied post, Scottie Ebube controlled the paint for IL Wolves finishing strong around the basket, dominating the glass and blocking shots. He runs well for his size and picked up a couple of dunks in transition on feeds from the Wolves guards. Ebube is tough to handle at the 16U level and has an impressive motor.
6’0 2020 Isaiah Stewart – WI Dynasty 17U NY2LA
Isaiah Stewart did a little bit of everything in their matchup with a very talented Phenom U 17U team, finishing with 8 pts 5 reb and 5 ast. His on ball defense stood out as he did a great job of making things tough on the Phenom guards and getting a couple steals. Stewart has a smooth jumper when in rhythm and made some nice passes in the half court to set up teammates for easy buckets.
6’0 2024 Tayshawn Bridges – Team Milwaukee 14U
Tayshawn Bridges is a big time young prospect and showed off his talents Saturday in a couple of games for Team Milwaukee 14U. He can get anywhere he wants off the dribble and has a nice bag of breakdown moves. He lived in the paint, drawing a ton of fouls and knocking down his FTs on the way to 17 pts in his best game of the day.
6’1 2021 Denham Wojcik – Illinois Wolves 17U UAA
Wojcik is a true floor general playing up a grade level with the Wolves 17U team. He was able to get into the paint off the bounce and did a good job of making drop off passes and kick outs to shooters when help came. He got hot from deep hitting a couple threes in a row and competed on the defensive glass allowing him to start the break.
6’4 2022 Jaden Schutt – Illinois Wolves 15U UAA
Jaden Schutt was impressive for the IL Wolves 15U squad on Saturday night scoring 19 pts. He has good size for a wing putting down a couple of dunks and was able to finish in traffic at the rim. Schutt also made some nice passes when the defense collapsed on his drives and hit a couple of jumpers.
6’2 2021 Maxwell Kunnert – WI Sharks 16U
Maxwell Kunnert scored 25 pts for WI Sharks in their win over IL Irish getting his buckets from all over the court. He came out hot in the 1st half hitting 3 threes and showed nice touch from the midrange on a couple of nice runners. Kunnert gets great rotation and arc on his shot and was aggressive looking for his offense and putting pressure on the defense.
5’11 2023 Kylan Boswell – All In Midwest United 15U
Kylan Boswell is an intriguing young guard and had some really good moments for All In Midwest United on Saturday. He had an 18 point performance to close the night helping his team to a win. He has a good handle and is a knock down shooter with range when given space. He was unfazed playing against older competition and is a player to watch moving forward.
