While the 2019 class if front and center in terms of the recruiting landscape, a host of up and coming 2021 prospects are continuing to open eyes and working hard to secure their seat at the table in future conversations. Whether it be highly regarded early or just starting to emerge, the sophomore class from coast to coast has its fair share of prospects to take note of. One of the sophomore sleepers on the rise is Zac Johnson of River Falls in Wisconsin.
A 6-3 180 plus pound wing with an ability to slide between the 2 or the 3 offensively, Johnson is a strong athletic scoring talent who can finish with consistency and take over the game in bunches at times. The emerging sophomore can score at every level offensively and he combines that scoring prowess with an aggressive mentality to attack the rim and creatively finish in a variety of ways. His perimeter stroke is advanced and that gives him the ability catch and shoot while also allowing him the ability to utilize that advanced skill to attacking opposing defenders off the bounce as well. Physically Johnson has the athleticism and foot agility to defend opposing guards and he’s versatile enough on that end to handle the 2’s and 3’s defensively as needed.
Still developing and maturing as all high school sophomores are at this stage, Zac Johnson has quietly become one of those sophomores in Wisconsin to pay attention to this season and beyond as he’s a skilled wing with his best basketball in front of him making him one to watch in Wisconsin in the 2021 class.
He played with the Wisconsin Playmakers during the grassroots travel season.
