The third season of the Generation Next Basketball Association already featured a number of strong individual performances during the Regionals earlier this month. While the individual standouts were impressive, the teams that stood out were equally impressive as there are multiple championship contenders at the 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th grade levels. This weekend it all gets decided as the 2016 GNBA Championships take over the hardwood in Wisconsin Saturday, Sunday, and Monday with multiple contenders vying for trophies at all ages. All games will be played at Homestead High School in Mequon, Wisconsin with action tipping Saturday morning and running day and night through late Monday afternoon. Here’s a quick glimpse at some of the favorites…

The 8th grade level has Team Sizzle, Team 1 Tyus, Wisconsin United, Martin Brothers Select, and the Wisconsin Swing heading into the championships with undefeated marks while the Mac Irvin Fire, Team Ramey Love, Minnesota Falcons, OSA Crusaders, RAS Milwaukee, Wisconsin Shooters, and Minnesota Basketball Academy are a few of the many challengers off to strong starts looking to capture championship hardware at the 8th grade level.
The 7th grade level saw 7 different teams go undefeated during regional play as All Ohio Purple, Kansas Pray & Play, RAS Milwaukee, Kessel Heat Black, Team 1 Tyus, Butler Elite, and the OSA Crusaders all head into this weekend’s championship weekend with unblemished records. George Hill Rising Stars, All In Athletics, Minnesota Phenom, Quad City Elite, Team GetShook, and the Wisconsin Shooters are just a few of the other teams off to solid starts who will be ready again this weekend.
The 6th grade offers another deep pool of individual talent and teams with Team 1 Tyus, Wisconsin Playground Warriors, Meanstreets, and the Minnesota Heat shaping up as the favorites heading into the weekend. However, the Wisconsin Shooters, Illinois Speed, Net Gain Sports, Wisconsin Playmakers, Hoop Avenues Elite, RAS Milwaukee, and Kessel Heat Black are a few of the teams with their own plans to take home the championship this weekend.
Arguably the most balanced 5th grade group we’ve had in 3 years is paced by Team 1 Tyus, Illinois Attack, OSA Crusaders, and the Wisconsin United teams. However, RAS Milwaukee, the Wisconsin Playground Warriors, the Illinois Irish Elite, and the Springfield Predators are a few of the teams with their eyes on championship hardware this weekend.
