Day one of the NY2LA Summer Jam got off to a big start. Here are just a few of the many standouts from Thursday.

Javar Daniel – 2023 – PF – Yanders Law

Daniel had a tremendous game with 20 points today but has even greater upside. He has great physical tools standing at 6’9” with his length and mobility but also flashed some skills to go along with it too. He scored it on a very high percentage of his paint touches, playing well with his back to the basket. The big man has nice touch scoring over the top as well to being able to finish strong at the rim.

Stoney Hadnot – 2024 – G/F – Team Temple

The play of Hadnot only continues to improve. He was stellar today going for 24-points and 1-points in a pair of wins today for Team Temple. Hadnot is a bouncy wing that scored it exceptionally well going to the basket but also looked good hitting outside jumpers. Throughout the day, Hadnot was also extremely active on the defensive side of the ball making plays.

Xzavion Mitchell - 2025 – SF – Team Herro

In one of the top games of the day, Team Herro defeated a good Progeny team behind 22 points from Mitchell. As well to being 6’7”, the wing showed off his versatile game. He is an incredibly versatile player as he scores it strong around the paint but also shot it well from deep all-in addition to being a force on the glass and being a skilled passer.

Deunte Phifer – 2024 – G/F – REACH Legends

Phifer had some good performances during the spring but was playing on another level today. Going up against two of the top teams in the tournament, Phenom University EYBL and DB Pro, the wing scored 23 points in each of the games. While a very good attacker who also hit a few threes, Phifer is just as important on the defensive end being able to shut down opposing guards and wings.

Angel Sonnier – 2023 – PG – Houston Superstars

After a stellar spring, Sonnier continued his incredibly high level of play on day one of the Summer Jam. He started it off with a big 29-point game in a victory and then finished it off with 18 points in game two. He is an electric guard with his ability to get to the basket in a hurry but also create his own shot from the outside.
