The class of 2022 prospect continue to come off the board and the state of Wisconsin has more than their fair share of them with the latest being sharpshooting guard Andrew Rohde of Brookfield Central High School making a verbal pledge to Head Coach John Tauer and newly minted Division 1 St. Thomas.

The long lanky 6-6 plus sharpshooting wing is a recruiting coupe for St. Thomas and he follows the path of former teammate Ben Nau, a class of 2021 talent now at St. Thomas.  “The biggest factors in making my decision was the playing style, my relationships with coaches and the players, along with the education,” Rohde said, adding “I chose Saint Thomas because I really felt like it was home to me on my visit.  The coaches have great relationships with their players and I could tell they pushed everyone to get better and be the best version of themselves.  Academically it also checked a lot of boxes for me and my parents as a good education is important to all of us.”

Rohde is a dual threat on the hardwood as he is an excellent perimeter shooting talent who doubles as a high quality defender that gives a solid effort on that end of the floor and brings versatility where he can match up with multiple positions defensively.  Still continued to develop, Rohde is far from a finished product and he’s ready to get to work.  “I think the biggest thing I need to work on is my body and speed.  I believe I have a lot of solid tools but to play and excel at the Division 1 level is about being tough, quick, and continuing to improve each and every day and I’m looking forward to that challenge at St. Thomas,” Rohde indicated.

Equipped with solid instincts, nice feel, and a high ceiling, Rohde’s best basketball lies ahead and he’s appreciative of the opportunity that’s in front of him.  He added, “I am very blessed to be in the position to go play basketball and get a great education and I couldn’t have done it without my family, coaches, and friends.”

Rohde played with the Wisconsin based Phenom University program during the grassroots travel season.
