Minnesota continues to produce high caliber basketball prospects and CJ O'Hara is next up at the scoring guard position in Minnesota's deep 2023 class. Entering his third varsity season, O'Hara is primed to produce at a high level as one of the top shooting guard prospects in the state this season.

Entering this high school season, I was able to catch up with the young stud for a few questions in an online interview.

Edwards: With things being different due to the pandemic and gym access limited, what have you been doing to stay on top of your game?

O'Hara: I've been staying in shape by running 2-3 miles a day and working out at home. I sometimes can find ways into a gym to work on my game as much as possible when gyms are available.

Edwards: Even though you’re only a sophomore, you’re in your third year of varsity basketball, how is that helped you build your game?

O'Hara: It just gave me a lot more confidence on the court and taught me how to handle situations at an early age that help me in the future.

Edwards: What were your favorite childhood NCAA basketball and NBA teams?

O'Hara: Oregon and the Los Angeles Lakers

Aggressiveness, attitude and an ability to play above the rim makes O'Hara an intimidating force on the wing. He has the ability to create off the dribble using his great explosiveness driving the lane and finishing around the rim. O'Hara has great basketball instincts, makes contributions all over the floor, makes plays for others, and he’s active on the boards with the ability to go end to end. He creates chaos defensively and his ability to turn defense to offense is one of O'Hara strengths.  With a talented cast surrounding him at Totino-Grace O'Hara should continue to develop into a promising high major prospect with plenty of opportunities in front of him.

Still early in the recruiting process, O'Hara has gained momentum hearing from multiple programs showing interest including, but not limited to, the hometown Minnesota Gophers along with Iowa State, Nebraska, Xavier, California, Creighton and Butler.  Look for him to become a big 2023 story regionally before it’s all said and done.
