The upcoming spring and summer travel season will look to rebuild the landscape that was altered so negatively by COVID-19 in 2020 and a host of talented prospects are front and center with something to prove regionally and nationally.  One such talent is South St. Paul (MN) standout Alonzo Dodd.

A 6-2 plus length 2022 guard from Minnesota, Dodd is primed for a big spring and summer.  He handles the ball well, sees the floor, and he has the ability to score at all three levels.  He has a smooth relaxed feel to his game and he plays with poise and confidence allowing him to deliver when it matters the most.  His perimeter stroke is smooth from beyond the arc, he can attack off the bounce and finish through traffic, and he has the ability to score in transition or half court sets with the ball in his hands or moving without the ball to get quality looks.  Mix in the fact that he’s shown solid vision and playmaking potential as well as an ability to disrupt things defensively and it’s easy to see why he could easily become a big story in Minnesota over the next 6-8 months.

He currently holds offers from Hampton, Morgan State, UW-Milwaukee, and Western Illinois with a variety of other mid and high major programs kicking the tires early.  Expect his trail to fill up substantially as Minnesota starts to return to the courts and Dodd starts to deliver.  At the early stages right now in high school action he leads the state in points, rebounds, and steals.  Look for him to continue to put together high caliber efforts and expect to hear a lot about him moving forward as he’s a legitimate Division 1 talent that schools at the mid and high major levels need to track and watch closely moving forward.

He plays with the Team Sizzle program during the grassroots travel season.
