The recruiting world continues to be in a flux with the constant fluidity of COVID-19 and the lack of opportunities for college coaches to put their own eyes on prospects this year.  That being said there’s still a number of guards who have firmly solidified their status as high major prospects in the 2022 class.  Here’s a quick glance at four such talents…

Note – Listed in alphabetical order
AMARI BAILEY – 6’4 – G – SIERRA CANYON (CA)
An explosive scoring talent with an ability to finish from multiple levels, Bailey has size, athleticism, toughness, and an ability to deliver in half court sets as well as the open court.  Bailey is a highlight reel waiting to happen and he is a legitimate top 10 guard nationally with a tremendously high ceiling.  Originally from Illinois, the talented guard has continued to make a huge impression since relocating to California and he’s firmly established himself as one of the prized recruits in the 2022 class with UCLA, Alabama, Kansas, etc. already in the mix.

TRE HOLLOMAN – 6’1 – PG – CRETIN-DERHAM HALL (MN)
A tough physical two sport start with an ability to create and score, Holloman is a gifted basketball talent with a football mindset that makes him a difficult matchup for opposing teams.  Equipped with quicks, handles, athleticism, vision, etc. Holloman uses it all to create chaos defensively and deliver blue chip caliber performances offensively that include passing and scoring in a variety of ways.  He can finish at all levels, he delivers timely passes from difficult angles, and he has the ability to fill the box score.  He’s an elite national caliber guard who already holds offers from Michigan State, Baylor, Texas, Indiana, etc.

AUSTIN NUNEZ – 6’2 – PG – WAGNER (TX)
A skilled and instinctive left handed guard with an ability to score at multiple levels, Nunez is a dual threat in that he can create chaos defensively while also blistering the nets offensively.  He handles the ball well, he sees the floor, he can create in half court sets and advance pass in transition, and he has the ability to score and create as needed off the pick n’ roll.  Equipped with feel, quickness, instincts, and intangibles, Nunez is a quality up and coming guard with a really nice ceiling that looks and feels the part of a potential high major impact talent.  Texas, Texas A&M, Baylor, Arkansas, Memphis, LSU, Oregon, etc. have already offered the talented guard.

SETH TRIMBLE – 6’2 – PG – MENOMONEE FALLS HS (WI)
An explosive young lead guard who could easily be a 2023 prospect given his age, Trimble really started to stretch his legs this past summer and he’s already firmly established as a consensus top 75 guard nationally with top 10 potential when it’s all said and done.  The younger brother of former North Carolina player J.P. Tokoto, Trimble has ridiculous athleticism and explosive hops that he pairs with vision, handles, an ability to defend multiple positions, and he can score at every level.  Whether it’s attacking the rim off the bounce and finishing through traffic or making it rain off the mid-range pull-up or beyond the arc, Trimble is a gifted blue chip prospect who belongs in the conversation with any of the top guards in the country for the 2022 class.  He already holding offers from USC, Arizona State, TCU, Nebraska, UW-Milwaukee, etc.
