The high school season is rolling along but that doesn’t mean the young middle school prodigies aren’t on the hardwood as well. So with that being said please allow us to shift gears for a second this morning and take a look at five highly skilled middle school talents to pay close attention to moving forward…
Darius Acuff Jr. – 2025 – PG – Detroit, MI
An ultra-quick pint sized guard with an ability to control the tempo, score at will, and create easy opportunities for his teammates. Powered his team to the GNBA championship this past spring and summer with a number of electric performances that were both consistent and dominant in the same sense.
Tayshawn Bridges – 2024 – G – Milwaukee, WI
A multi-skilled talent with athleticism, feel, and instincts, Bridges continues to take steps forward in his progression. He scores from each level, he sees the floor well, and he has solid handles to score off the bounce. Physically he’s advanced so he can play through contact and he has the ability to elevate vertically as well. On the hardwood he’s highly skilled and talented across the board.
Trovary Cavil – 2024 – PG – Des Moines, IA
A pure floor general with an ability to create or score at will, Cavil is silky smooth and he brings to mind some past guards that have grown up in the Generation Next Basketball ranks. He delivers passes on time, he handles the ball well, he can finish at each level, and he has the ability to impact the floor defensively. A quality guard on the rise.
Daniel Freitag – 2024 – G – Oak Grove, MN
The GNBA and Generation Next Basketball brand has been the proving grounds for virtually most of the high caliber Minnesota standout prospects over the past decade including, but not limited to, Tre Jones, Siyani Champers, Jalen Suggs, Chet Holmgren, Kerwin Walton, Dawson Garcia, Treyton Thompson, Drake Dobbs, etc. amongst others. The 2024 class boasts a few as well and this talented guard is one to watch closely as well. He was part of a stellar Team Getshook team that captured the GNBA championship this past spring and his ability to score across the board and contribute in a variety of ways was impressive. He’s one to watch closely in Minnesota.
Jeremiah Johnson – 2024 – F/C – Chicago, IL
A talented up and coming forward with size, plus length, upside, and instincts, Johnson showed flashes of nice potential this past spring and summer. He can finish around the basket, he alters shots, and he has solid rebounding instincts to go with an ability to run the floor and finish in transition. Still raw and developing like most bigs, he’s an intriguing young forward to watch closely over the next few years in Chicago.
