Opening night of the 2019 NY2LA Sports Swish & Dish was electric as always and a handful of talented prospects delivered some quality performances.  We begin our look back at this past weekend’s basketball spectacular in Wisconsin with a glance at five talented prospects that stood out on opening night…

6’3 2020 PG Reece Beekman – Phenom University 17U EYBL
Reece Beekman had arguably the most impressive overall performance on Day 1 of NY2LA Sports Swish N Dish, finishing with 20 pts in Phenom University’s win over Illinois Wolves. Beekman controlled the game from the Point Guard position and played with great pace. He knocked down jumpers, showed a great floater package and set up teammates for easy baskets. Already an elite national recruit, look for Beekman to blow up even more this spring on the Nike EYBL circuit.

5’11 2020 PG Jalen Terry – The Family 17U EYBL
Michigan State Commit Jalen Terry started the weekend with a great showing on Friday. He scored 22 points vs Brad Beal Elite – knocking down jumpers and showing elite athleticism attacking the rim and finishing. Terry was the key for The Family as they dominated from start to finish in a matchup of two solid EYBL squads.

6’7 2020 Caden Boser – Wisconsin Swing 17U NY2LA
Caden Boser had a really good opening game for WI Swing NY2LA team – scoring 21 points in their win over Nova Village to lead all scorers. Boser is a prototypical modern forward, able to stretch the floor at 6’7 with a smooth stroke from deep. Boser also showed the ability to put the ball on the floor when defenders ran him off the three-point line and is a solid rebounder for his position.

6’9 2020 Jaemyn Brakefield – Phenom University 17U EYBL
Jaemyn Brakefield had an impressive debut with Phenom University team that was missing three starters Friday night. Brakefield scored 20 pts in their win vs the Illinois Wolves and was aggressive attacking the rim and getting to the FT line. He displayed his elite athletic ability, catching some highlight reel lobs from Beekman and knocked down a smooth three pointer off a pick and pop.

6’7 2022 Max Nelson – Phenom University 15U EYBL
Max Nelson shined Friday night for an absolutely loaded Phenom University 15U team in their opening round win. Nelson scored 18 points and hit 3 three pointers. He has really good shot mechanics, a quick release and gets great rotation on his jumper. Nelson also showed good athleticism and coordination at 6’7 and projects as a potential high major wing down the road as he continues to develop.
